“This was our second time here at the PICU in the last month. Over the first week in the PICU we had several disappointments, and we struggled to feel safe leaving our daughter since she is non-verbal. Being in the PICU is hard enough, not to mention having to pay bills, eat, and maintain a good mental state. So not being able to feel safe to leave was hard for us. Then we met Marianne… she brought a whole new feeling into our room. She provided outstanding care, spoke with pride in her job, and brought knowledge to us both. Over two days Marianne was able to gain our trust and the reassurance that we needed. She brought so much knowledge and ideas to help us with small issues we had with our daughter. The tone she used to speak to us and our daughter brought comfort to us. She had the ability to magically lower our anxiety. She went above and beyond her job as a nurse, showing compassion to our daughter, working endlessly at such an intense pace, and making a difference in our world as parents. Marianne came into our room as a complete stranger but did everything she could to help our daughter and us. Because of this, we will be ever grateful our paths crossed.
Keep up the great work and touch each patient's family as you did us!”
