The Best of a Colorado Travel Nursing Experience

Create lifelong memories during your travel nurse career with a Colorado travel experience.
You already have a passion for your nursing career, so why not take it to the next level and make it a travel nurse career? That is what Jessica, a Labor and Delivery, RN did. First, she took her fiance, who , on the road with her to Colorado, then added their new family member, Dallas, a along the way.
They chose Colorado for many reasons. Namely, it’s a state where the possibilities for adventure are endless. Colorado is great for those who seek new and exciting experiences, offering an abundance of outdoor fun. Whether you're into hiking, water sports, snowboarding, skiing, or mountain biking, the state has something to offer for everyone – even if you are starting at “entry level.” There are also slightly more low-key local events you can attend, like farmers markets, concerts, and brewery tours.

Life and Experience as a Labor and Delivery Travel Nurse

My name is Jessica, and I am a Labor and Delivery travel nurse. I have been traveling for two years, and Colorado has been my favorite place to be. My fiancé works from home and travels with me wherever my assignments land us. We traveled in Colorado last year from May to November and decided to go back to NC for the holidays. The opportunity arose to come back to Colorado, and we never hesitated. We decided to drive back out, this time with our golden retriever puppy, Dallas. While on my assignment last fall in Colorado, my fiancé and I took a road trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. We did some research and realized that these national parks were only about eight hours away from where we were staying, and we both agreed that we had to go! We still talk about how much fun we had and all the memories we made while we were there.

Perks of Travel Nursing in Colorado

The best part about being in Colorado is the diversity of the state. If you love to be outdoors, this is the place to be. We have hiked hundreds of miles through the mountains. Being able to hike to beautiful alpine lakes is our dog's favorite so he can go for a swim. I have also enjoyed meeting the people here. I have made some life-long friendships that I would not have had if I hadn’t made the jump to come to this amazing state.

A Passion for Nursing Turned to Travel Nursing

I have known I wanted to be a nurse from a very young age. I worked very hard to get the best grades I could. Even with stellar grades, I was still rejected and put on a waitlist for the nursing program. I did not let this discourage me, and I decided to take extra classes. Soon after, I was called and told that I was accepted into the program. I worked throughout nursing school as a CNA on a step-down intensive care unit. I originally wanted to work in the ICU as a new grad. I applied for a new graduate residency program, and DURING my interview I decided to change my specialty to Women’s Services. Honestly, that decision came out of nowhere, but it has been the best, most rewarding decision I have ever made.

“Travel nursing prepared me to meet future goals by…”

Being able to see healthcare in different states is always interesting. I believe that being a travel nurse has helped me grow and expand my skill set. It has also made me able to make friends at any hospital. This has given me a great foundation for my future goals because traveling makes you adapt to new environments quickly. I was introduced to American Traveler through another travel nurse who I met while on assignment in Georgia. She had traveled through this company previously and was able to help make connections with recruiters that later helped me secure my assignment in Colorado.
The time is now, so gather up your partner, family, or pet – and start your adventure!
