American Traveler is hiring an LPN/LVN for a Med Surg/Telemetry unit requiring recent med surg experience and proficiency in heparin drips, IV starts, and EPIC documentation.

Details

• Med Surg/Telemetry unit caring for patients with elective joint replacements, fractures, trauma, back/neck surgeries, post-op craniotomy, seizures, and strokes
• Unit will expand to 48 beds within the next year
• Charge nurse present every shift
• Cares for telemetry patients with limited drips
• No moderate sedation and rare closed reductions performed
• Uses equipment including Buck's traction and Hoyer lifts
• 4x12 night shift schedule, 1900-0700
• Float required
• Every third weekend required

Requirements

• License required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• NIHSS and Tele/EKG exam certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, with med surg experience required within the last year
• MS/Tele experience preferred
• Proficiency in heparin drips, IV starts, and lab draws required
• EPIC documentation proficiency required
• Patient ratio experience of 1:5

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and emergency response
• Duties include medication administration, feeding tube care, foley catheter insertion, and wound/skin care
• Communicate patient status changes to RN/MD and follow isolation precautions/PPE protocols
• Age-specific competency required for young adult, middle adult, and older adult populations
• No first-time travelers considered for this position
• RTO limited to 2 requests per contract
• Scrubs may be any solid color or brand
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility for travel rate eligibility
