American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Medical/Surgical Oncology Infusion position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of oncology and surgical nursing experience.

Details

• 28-bed acute care Medical/Surgical Oncology inpatient unit
• Provides skilled nursing care to patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and/or biologicals
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Weekend shifts required on an as-needed basis
• No call requirements
• Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Oncology and surgical nursing experience required
• Academic medical center oncology experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, accessing and managing ports, and central line care
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as anaphylaxis, sepsis, and extravasation injury
• Experience with chemotherapy administration and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• Skilled in symptom management, wound care, and PICC line care
• Experience providing psychosocial and hospice care support

Additional Information

• Provide care including aggressive curative therapy, symptom management, ostomy care, and palliative care
• Care for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and hematologic malignancies
• Coordinate care and manage chest tubes, colostomies/ileostomies, and Foley catheters as needed
• Employment at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Level trauma center status
• Scrubs of any color permitted; OR scrubs provided by facility
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Prior UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
