American Traveler is hiring an RN - Labor & Delivery for a high-volume, fast-paced night shift unit requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience with high birth volume settings.

Details

• Hospital-based high-risk maternity Labor and Delivery unit with an obstetrical triage area
• Cares for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care, as well as select high-risk patients under 16 weeks
• Unit performs scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures
• Facility averages more than 300 births per month with roughly 20 births in 24 hours, 30-40 admissions, 40 visits per day, and 20 rooms
• Patient ratio of 2:1
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend required, minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Floating required as needed within the high-risk maternity unit
• No call requirements
• Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication systems
• Double labor assignments occur daily on this fast-paced, high-acuity unit

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced or C-EFM preferred in lieu of AWHONN)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, 3 years preferred
• Experience in a large or high-volume (300+ births/month) similar setting strongly preferred
• Skilled in circulating for C-sections, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with labor and delivery management, antepartum care, fetal monitoring interpretation, and IV therapy

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum nursing care
• Perform obstetrical triage, antenatal fetal surveillance, and routine outpatient procedures such as IV hydration and medication administration
• Assist with scheduled and unscheduled C-sections and cervical cerclage procedures
• Unit orientation is 24 hours
• Scrubs (blue) are provided
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved if not on a holiday; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment; additional RTO after signing not permitted
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have experience in a large or high-volume similar setting
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Current travel or per diem clinicians must choose one status and cannot hold both simultaneously
