American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for a busy Emergency Department requiring critical access hospital experience and NH or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Emergency Department at a critical access hospital with TeleEmergency, Telepsych, and Teleneonatal support via DHMC
• Modern ED equipped with state-of-the-art technology and board-certified providers
• Position is 60% ED charge duties and 40% backup charge coverage for Med/Surg and Stepdown units
• Requires floating to Med/Surg and Stepdown units, including care for Stepdown and Med/Surg patients
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM, 36 hours/week
• Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
• No on-call requirements
• Access to DHART and LifeFlight of Maine helicopter trauma services

Requirements

• Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of current Emergency Room experience required
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Previous experience in a Critical Access Hospital highly preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC
• Emergency Room skills checklist required for consideration
• One supervisory signed reference from the past year of employment required

Additional Information

• Serve as Charge RN providing leadership and support across ED, Med/Surg, and Stepdown units
• Work alongside Emergency Department technicians and Certified Emergency Registered Nurses
• Support staff maintain certifications in BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and TNCC
• Facility focuses on stabilizing, treating, and discharging patients, with transfer protocols for higher-level care when needed
• Local candidates not accepted; permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility
• Housing availability in the area can be limited, so early planning is recommended
• Maximum of 5 days RTO may be requested
