American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Surgical unit specializing in wound/ostomy care, requiring at least one year of nursing experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Surgical unit within a hospital setting, providing post-operative care for complex surgical patients
• Manages new tracheostomies, wound vac therapy, and complex wound and ostomy care
• Collaborates with general surgical residency and OMFS residency services
• Uses Epic charting system
• Day shift schedule: 7:00a-7:30p, 3x12, 36 hours per week
• Approximately 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week period
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
• No floating requirements

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Experience with wound vac operation, ostomy management, and tracheostomy care preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required

Additional Information

• Responsible for a designated group of patients, performing assessments, developing care plans, and implementing nursing interventions
• Provides patient and family education, including on new ostomies
• Documents nursing care accurately and communicates with the healthcare team
• Reports and corrects safety hazards and incidents
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not work continuously for more than 1 year at this health system without a 6-month break in service
