American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with wound/ostomy care experience for a surgical unit position requiring Epic charting and Level 1 Trauma experience.

Details

• Surgical unit within a hospital setting caring for complex post-operative patients
• Manages patients with new tracheostomies requiring monitoring and care
• Provides wound assessment and management, including wound vac care
• Assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies
• Collaborates with general surgical residency and OMFS residency services
• Day shift schedule, 7:00a-7:30p, 3x12 (36 hours/week)
• Requires 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week period
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Documentation must include copy of license and NURSYS license information

Additional Information

• Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process for an assigned patient group
• Completes initial patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care
• Implements and modifies care plans based on ongoing evaluation
• Maintains accurate documentation to support care coordination across the healthcare team
• Reports and corrects safety hazards to promote patient and staff safety
• Collaborates with peers and provides constructive feedback to support professional development
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not work continuously for more than 1 year at this health system without a 6-month break in service
