American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring CA licensure, EPIC experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Step Down unit within a multi-hospital health system float pool
• Night shift, 4x12 schedule (7:30 PM - 7:30 AM) with options for 3x12s
• 13 or 26 week contract options available
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Required to float down and across the organization to like units or lower acuity units (excluding the ED), potentially to other campuses
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle, including at least one holiday weekend
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (no pending certifications accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of concurrent Step Down or ICU experience, within the last year
• 1.5 years of continuous experience in specialty required, with no breaks except for floating
• Travel nursing experience required: 1 year total, with 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
• No gaps in travel experience within the last 6 months, except for minimal pre-approved vacations or brief onboarding/relocation periods
• EPIC or combined EPIC/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• 1 supervisory-level professional reference required
• Interview availability required for same day and next 3 business days, including time zone

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care within a Step Down/Stepdown unit setting, managing cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and related patient populations
• Skills may include cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care, insulin protocols, and orthopedic trauma care
• Candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility, except LVNs/MAs
• Candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months are considered local and not eligible
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
• Returning staff or travelers may reapply after a 1-year waiting period following separation
• Maximum 7 days RTO permitted, with no additional requests after submission for consideration
• Extension policy allows up to 1 year, after which a 1-year waiting period applies before returning
• International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
