American Traveler is hiring a Psychiatric RN for a behavioral health unit requiring an OH or compact RN license and 2+ years of psych nursing experience.

Details

• Behavioral health unit within a 72-bed facility caring for adult patients
• Patient ratios of 1:4-6
• Common diagnoses include alcohol and drug addiction, bi-polar disorder, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and schizophrenia
• Uses HCS and Pyxis systems along with paper charting
• 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required, totaling 24 hours per two-week period
• Floating required as needed
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and Handle With Care (HWC) certifications required
• 2+ years of psychiatric nursing experience required
• Associate's degree in Nursing required
• Experience with COWS and CIWA assessments required
• Experience responding to Code Blue and violent situations required
• Skilled in admissions, discharges, shift assessments, and emergency and routine medication administration
• De-escalation skills required
• Experience with Pyxis and HCS systems required
• Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care including admissions, discharges, assessments, and medication administration
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and respond to behavioral emergencies as needed
• Work under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer
• Team-oriented environment requiring a pleasant, hardworking, and detail-oriented approach
• Navy blue scrubs required; hoods are not permitted as part of the dress code
• Must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate
• Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
• Cannot be employed elsewhere on a full-time basis while on assignment
• Weekly orientation held on Mondays
