American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring expert independent sterile vaginal exam skills and AWHONN Advanced certification.

• Labor and Delivery unit within a 320-bed acute care hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Float required to Mother Baby unit as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Must be open to working weekends, likely exceeding every other weekend to meet unit needs
• Facility may call off shifts up to once per two-week pay period

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required; under 2 years may be considered depending on experience, with 1.5 years as an absolute minimum
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, BLS, NRP
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be able to independently perform sterile vaginal exams and triage without supervision
• Expert-level Labor and Delivery skills required including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and fetal monitoring
• Experience with medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline required
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Must confirm any prior work history at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, traveler, or per-diem staff

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
• Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Support high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock response, and C-section recovery
• Assist with pain management including epidural and PCA use
• Scrub color for RNs is Royal Blue, with L&D/OR scrubs provided
• Charting is done in Meditech for general hospital use, though Epic experience is required for this unit
• Free parking available on site
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted at time of application; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside a 50-mile radius
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the region
