American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Oncology unit requiring ND or compact RN licensure and prior large hospital oncology experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit within a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital
• 6S has 16 inpatient oncology beds and 7S has 12 inpatient beds focused on hematology/bone marrow transplant
• Care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients requiring blood products, antibiotics, and symptom management
• Nurse to patient ratios of 1:3 for chemotherapy/BMT patients and 1:4-6 for regular oncology patients depending on shift
• Uses EPIC EMR, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, language line, and Zebra phones
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call requirements and nurses will not work alone
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units at Broadway with potential floating to other Fargo Med Surg units

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification from AHA required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
• Experience in a busy Level 1 trauma center required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience highly preferred
• Inpatient oncology experience preferred, with hematology and bone marrow transplant experience a bonus
• Must be willing to float to all Med Surg units/locations within Fargo as needed

Additional Information

• Perform head-to-toe assessments, administer medications, communicate with the interdisciplinary team, and update patients and families
• May be assigned chemotherapy administration duties if properly trained
• Orientation includes 8 hours of classroom training followed by 24-36 hours of unit-specific training
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Candidates residing between 60 and 80 miles of the facility may be considered at a reduced local rate
• Clinicians with prior employment at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
• All clinicians are required to badge in and out at the facility
