American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVOR RN for a Level II trauma OR requiring 24 months of recent CVOR and general OR circulating experience along with EPIC proficiency.

Details

• Operating Room department within a 16-bed unit running 12-14 of 16 total OR suites
• Level I/II trauma center covering service lines including Cardiac/PV, Neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, and transplants
• 1:1 patient ratio with an average of 35-50 cases per day and turnover expectations under 20 minutes
• Utilizes 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth neuro navigation technology, and Synthes/Stryker equipment for ortho trauma
• EPIC EMR experience required within the previous 3 years
• Days shift, 6:30 AM-5:00 PM, 4x10s Monday-Friday with a rotating day off, 40 hrs/week
• Required to work 1 weekend per month (Friday 5p through Monday 6:30a)
• On-call responsibilities up to 2 overnights per week and 1 weekend per month
• Required to float across Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist campuses

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of current/recent Operating Room experience required
• CVOR/Cardiovascular OR experience required, with approximately 80% cardiac case experience and 20% general case experience
• Strong proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic cases required
• Basic general surgery circulating experience required if not assigned to cardiac cases
• EPIC EMR experience within the previous 3 years required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience highly preferred
• Scrub experience including open heart scrubbing required
• Must be comfortable with both scrub and circulate roles
• Must have completed a travel assignment within the previous 15 months; no first-time travelers
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor/charge nurse/manager/director within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Orientation includes approximately 2-3 weeks in general OR to acclimate to the department, followed by 2 weeks circulating and scrubbing in vascular, then transitioning to cardiac cases with shadow call before taking full cardiac call
• New RNs take general department call for the first 6 weeks before progressing to cardiac call
• Department is staffed 24 hours per day with charge nurse oversight to ensure appropriate case assignments
• Scrubs are provided
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN) are restricted from working travel assignments in another market within 12 months of separation
