American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment in Des Moines, IA requiring at least one prior travel contract and recent charge or precepting experience.

Details

• Med/Surg unit (5E) at a hospital caring for all types of med/surg patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 on a 15-bed unit
• Uses remote tele tech unit monitoring and administers heparin drips
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts totaling 48 hrs/week (36 hrs can be accommodated if preferred)
• Weekend rotation required every other or every third weekend depending on staffing/census
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float to all campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital within contracted skillset/unit
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or Compact/Multistate RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 24 months of Med Surg/Med Surg Tele experience required
• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months (no first-time travelers)
• Proficiency caring for all patient types in a variety of med/surg cases required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with Heparin required
• Telemetry/cardiac background highly preferred
• Recent charge or precepting experience required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

• Provide comprehensive med/surg and telemetry nursing care across a variety of patient conditions

• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 of the next 3 upcoming holidays unless the unit is closed
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible if they have worked travel in another market within the past 12 months; this restriction does not apply if prior UPH work was as a travel contractor
