American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring recent Level 1 or 2 trauma experience and multiple advanced certifications.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center ER with Pediatric State Certification and Comprehensive Stroke Center designation
• 20 total beds including 5 trauma bays, 10 OBS beds, and hallway beds
• 6-bed Fast Track area and separate 3-bed triage area
• Patient ratios of 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in OBS, and 1:1 in ICU/Trauma
• Common diagnoses include trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke (TPA candidates)
• 24/7 in-house security, ED physicians/mid-levels, and charge nurse on every shift
• Nurse aides/EMTs/paramedics support at ratios of 1:10 in OBS and 1:20 in main ED
• Tele/monitor techs available, but RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour shifts, various start times ranging from 0700-1900 through 1900-0700
• Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on department needs
• Floats to OBS unit and the Freestanding Creighton ER at least once weekly
• One week of unit-specific onboarding, including 2 shifts at Bergan and 1 shift at UC

Requirements

• Active RN license (State or Compact/NLC) for NE required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (NRP preferred)
• BSN not required for this position
• Must pass a Friday pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
• Driver's license required at time of consideration to verify residence location
• Artificial fingernails are prohibited in all patient care areas

Additional Information

• Fast-paced, high-acuity emergency department environment
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity
• Candidates who were directly employed by a CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible
• Up to 7 days of RTO must be requested upfront for the 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission
