American Traveler is hiring an RN - Med/Surg for a Specialty Orthopedics unit requiring NJ or compact RN license and perioperative patient care experience.

Details

• Work in the Specialty Orthopedics unit of a hospital setting
• Provides pre-operative and postoperative care for surgical patients
• PM shift schedule, 7p-7a, 3 days per week at 12 hours per day
• Floating required as needed, including to a nearby sister hospital
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
• Experience with pre-operative and postoperative assessments
• Skilled in surgical patient care, perioperative care, and pre-admission testing evaluation
• Knowledge of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics
• Strong documentation and patient education skills

Additional Information

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments across all age groups from pediatric to geriatric
• Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness based on procedure, age, and health status
• Educates patients and families on surgical procedures and post-operative instructions
• Maintains accurate documentation and adheres to HIPAA compliance standards
• Follows National Patient Safety Goals including use of two patient identifiers
• Local candidates accepted
• Travelers may stay on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, requiring a break before returning to a new assignment
