American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry unit at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring 2+ years of MS tele experience and recent Epic experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit at a Critical Access Hospital with some Progressive Care patients
• Patient population includes medical, telemetry, orthopedic, urology, GYN, and general surgery patients ranging from young adult to end of life
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:4 or 1:5 based on acuity
• Unit functions as the Code 99, Rapid Response, Fall, and IV team
• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Philips cardiac monitoring equipment
• Documentation via EPIC and medication management via PYXIS
• Support staff includes 2-3+ LNA/CNA/PCT per shift, unit clerks, and hospital volunteers
• 24/7 respiratory therapy support and dedicated hospitalist coverage for the unit
• 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Floating is voluntary and within scope only
• Charge RN responsibilities required, including a minimum of every other weekend or as scheduled to meet unit needs

Requirements

• Active VT or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; NIHSS must be completed prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical Telemetry experience required
• Progressive care experience preferred
• Charge RN experience required
• Insulin drip and cardiac drip experience required
• EPIC experience within the past 2 years required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must provide complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type for consideration

• Unit has 24/7 lab and x-ray support, with house supervisors and on-call managers available when unit leadership is not present

• Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended as public transportation is not accessible in the area
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
• Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
• No block scheduling permitted
• Holiday coverage required as needed to staff the unit
• Local candidates accepted; radius and local pay rates available based on mileage from the facility
