American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring OH or compact RN license, charge experience, and 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Mixed PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg unit within an Observation Unit setting
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 6:45am-7:15pm)
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4 on all shifts
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including chest pain, AFib, TIA, GI bleed, CHF, COPD, seizures, and post-surgical complications
• Approximately 2/3 of patients managed by EDOBS providers on-site 7a-7p and by phone overnight
• Fast-paced department with a length of stay goal of 18-24 hours
• Requires floating within service line and between Toledo, Flower, Bay Park, and Wildwood facilities to units including Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surg, and Uro/Vascular
• Every other weekend required
• No block scheduling available
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of relevant acute care experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Familiarity with intermediate medication drips such as heparin, nitro, cardizem, and insulin required
• Epic charting experience required
• Observation medicine experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and insulin drip titration required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and non-invasive airway management required

• Provide telemetry and progressive care nursing to a mixed patient population in a fast-paced observation setting
• Level I trauma center and largest acute care hospital in the Toledo metropolitan area
• Navy blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers accepted, with priority given to those who have prior Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
• Requests for time off greater than 7 days require management approval
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius accepted
• Returning staff must have a 1-year break in service before reapplying
• Schedules may change with two weeks' notice from the facility
