American Traveler is hiring an Oncology Infusion RN for an outpatient chemotherapy setting requiring 2+ years of ambulatory infusion experience and chemo certification.

Details

• Outpatient infusion center within a treatment center affiliated with a Level I Trauma Center
• Provides ambulatory infusion and chemotherapy administration to an oncology patient population
• Typical patient ratio of 1:6-8 patients
• Day shift schedule offered as 5x8-hour or 4x10-hour shifts
• No weekend or on-call requirements
• No floating required
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CT RN license or multistate/compact license required
• Pending license accepted, but candidate must apply prior to submission (CT license processing takes 15-21 business days)
• Minimum 2 years of ambulatory infusion/outpatient chemotherapy experience required
• BLS and Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification required; OCN certification preferred
• Prior travel experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, central line care, and PICC line care
• Experienced in chemotherapy administration (IV push, continuous infusion, oral) and management of cytotoxic spills
• Knowledge of oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
• Experience recognizing and managing chemotherapy-related symptoms and side effects
• Familiarity with pain management including IV push narcotics, PCA pumps, and transdermal patches
• 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy treatments including immunotherapy and interferon/interleukin therapies
• Provide care for patients with various cancer types including breast, lung, colorectal, and lymphoma
• Deliver patient and family education and psychosocial support throughout treatment
• Follow neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; COVID booster required except for religious/medical exemptions
• RTO requests require approval, with up to 7 days auto-approved
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
