American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC/PCU Telemetry position requiring 2 years of recent experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details

• Work in the IMC/PCU (Intermediate Care/Progressive Care) unit
• Cares for cardiac telemetry, stepdown, neurological, and CVA patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM), 36 hours per week
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity if census drops
• 10 weekend shifts required per contract
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD state license or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
• Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and dysrhythmia management required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, and insulin drip titration
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Flu vaccine required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to telemetry, stepdown, and cardiac monitoring patients including rapid response and code team coordination
• Manage wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue/white color required
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
