American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a telemetry step-down unit requiring KY or compact RN licensure and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• Progressive care/step-down unit transitioning patients from ICU
• 32-bed unit with semi-private rooms and a 4-5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• All patients are on continuous telemetry heart monitoring
• Mixed-acuity population including medical-surgical transfers, GI bleeds, COVID and respiratory distress cases, and ICU step-down patients
• Care includes active cardiac drip titration and continuous BiPAP monitoring
• Unit does not care for acute stroke patients
• 3x12 schedule, 7p-7a shifts
• Weekend and holiday rotation required
• 36 hours per week, 0.9 FTE

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (KY or compact)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• No prior nursing experience required, though previous nursing experience is preferred
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety needs and implement appropriate safety devices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary care team

Additional Information

• Responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, and coordination across the nursing process
• Facilitates admission, transfer, and discharge activities including discharge teaching and case management coordination
• Delegates and oversees patient care tasks performed by other team members
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement initiatives such as patient satisfaction, falls prevention, and documentation audits
• Promotes a healing, patient- and family-centered care environment
