American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN with 2 years of high acuity PICU experience for a night shift contract at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.

Details

• Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center within a 247-licensed bed teaching hospital that is also a Chest Pain and Certified Stroke Center
• 24-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with average census of 21-23 patients
• Patient population includes respiratory, trauma (including penetrating and non-accidental trauma), DKA, seizures, neurosurgical, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, and transplant (kidney and liver) cases, as well as complex medical and blood disorder cases
• RN to patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation requires working 2 Fridays, 2 Saturdays, 2 Sundays, and 2 Mondays every 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements for travelers
• Floating required as needed to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Pediatrics
• EPIC EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of high acuity Pediatric ICU experience required
• Must be comfortable working in a high acuity, fast-paced environment
• Experience with EPIC EMR required
• Skills required include management of critical care vasoactive drip titration, invasive lines (ART lines/CVP), ventilator and trach management, CRRT, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, and sedation/analgesic drip management
• Experience with specialized equipment including Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino ICP/temp monitoring device, and Belmont Rapid Infuser required
• Proficiency with Alaris and Medfusion pump management required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

• Responsibilities include bedside procedures with providers, aseptic and sterile techniques, dressing changes, oral/nasal suctioning, g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube management, and discharge skills
• Unit supported by CNA/health care tech, unit secretary, 24/7 charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 IV/VAT team, resource nurse, 24/7 respiratory therapy, 24/7 intensivist, in-house residents, and in-house APPs
• Centralized and bedside patient monitoring available, no dedicated telemetry tech
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage requires working 75% of holidays, plus the eve and day of every other holiday while on contract
• Navy scrub color required
