American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for an academic medical center setting, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and an active LA or compact RN license.

Details

• PACU unit within an academic medical center
• Evening shift, 5x8 hours, 15:00-23:00
• Patient ratio of 1:2, with potential to increase to 1:4 during overflow situations
• Call required every third weekend, typically on a volunteer basis, 7a-7p or 7p-7a
• Holiday coverage included as part of the call schedule
• No call-ins permitted
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (LA or Compact) required in hand at time of submission
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Prior travel nurse experience required
• NURSYS report required, updated within 4 weeks of submission
• Two Manager/Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to surgical patients across a wide range of specialties including cardiac, neuro/spine, ortho, ENT, and general surgery
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, requiring extended stay or relief team participation
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Orientation held 5 days a week
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
• RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescission
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation from the health system before returning as a traveler
