American Traveler is hiring an RN for a high-acuity, cardiac-focused Progressive Care Unit position requiring strong telemetry interpretation skills and recent cardiac experience.

Details

• High-acuity, cardiac-focused PCU unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
• High patient acuity with frequent admissions and discharges and significant procedural volume
• No ventilator patients on this unit
• Common patient populations include heart failure, A-Fib, A-Flutter, SVT, VTach, VFib, FVO, chest pain, HTN, heart transplant, congenital heart disease, and LVAD patients
• Common procedures include right and left heart catheterizations, TR band management, sheath removal/management, stent placement, valve replacement, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemakers, ICDs, cardioversions, and ablations
• 3x12 AM shifts totaling 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC EMR experience required
• May float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed
• Will not float to Cardiac Monitor Tech role

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) currently in hand
• Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience required
• Must independently interpret cardiac rhythms and pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam using calipers on the first attempt with no tech assistance
• Experience required with cardiac drips including insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, and nitroglycerin
• Chest tube experience required
• Must rate a 4 on all cardiac skills on the skills checklist
• Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred, with training available if needed

Additional Information

• Provide bedside care to high-acuity cardiac patients including telemetry monitoring, drip management, and post-procedural care
• Available start dates are every Monday
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Former Emory or Houston Methodist staff must be separated for 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
• Strict RTO policy: maximum of 5 days off if not on or near a holiday, or 3 days if request falls on or near a holiday, with only 1 holiday request allowed
