American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with a CA RN license for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring EOW coverage and floating flexibility.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• No on-call requirements
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including Summit or Herrick campuses depending on census
• Shuttle service provided for inter-campus floating with typical notice of 1.5 hours prior to shift start

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required (3 years preferred)
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration required
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, tracheostomy, and oxygen administration required
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and rapid response/code team activation required
• Experience managing patients with CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury required
• Experience with ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and renal failure/pre-post hemodialysis management required
• Familiarity with 5150 hold patients and ETOH withdrawal management required
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Serve as the patient's primary RN, managing overall nursing care from admission to discharge
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, developing and modifying individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Administer treatments and medications, monitor patient acuity, and respond to medical or environmental emergencies
• Act as liaison between nursing and medical staff to coordinate collaborative patient care
• Complete labs within 3-5 days of contract signing as part of onboarding
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
• Re-orientation only required if separated 6+ months since last shift and prior orientation was completed at this facility
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request permitted per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• Returning staff/travelers must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers considered, though travel experience is not required
