American Traveler is hiring a Wound Care RN with 3 years of hospital experience and required WCC certification for a 13-week Med/Surg wound and ostomy care assignment.

Details

• Wound Care unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes routine and chronic pressure injuries, dermatologic conditions, and new ostomy placements
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Uses wound vacs, novel wound therapies, and camera photography for wound documentation
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm with one Saturday shift per month
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or MD) required
• Current BLS and WCC certifications required
• ACLS and WOCN certifications preferred
• Minimum 3 years of hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in wound/ulcer assessment and management including HAPI and Stage I-IV pressure ulcers
• Experience with wound treatments and dressings including alginates, hydrocolloids, hydrogels, and vacuum-assisted closure
• Ostomy management skills including colostomy/ileostomy care
• Flu vaccination required

Additional Information

• Provide wound and ostomy care including assessment, treatment, and management of complex wounds and skin conditions
• Manage pressure ulcer staging, risk assessments, and prevention strategies using tools such as the Braden scale
• Support patients with new ostomy placements and provide ongoing continence and stoma care
• Work in a hospital environment focused on both routine and complex dermatologic and wound cases
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
