American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac Telemetry position requiring an active MD or Compact license and prior travel experience.

Details

• Stepdown Cardiac/Telemetry unit with 28 rooms
• Patient population spans adults to geriatrics with diagnoses including CHF, MI, pre/post cardiac cath, TAVR, CVA, COPD, DM, and respiratory failure
• Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (08:00-20:30), 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required within specialty and to like/lower acuity units as needed
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Navy blue scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI (Calm Every Storm online version only accepted for CPI)
• BLS/ACLS must be AHA certified only
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Experience with 1:4-5 patient ratios required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and arterial line management
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, thrombolytic agents, and PCA
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response/code teams
• Experience with pacemakers, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TAVR care
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry care including remote monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Support patients through pre/post cardiac catheterization, TAVR, and post-MI recovery
• Assist with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management as needed
• Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
• Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility unless locals are specifically accepted
• Former staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have a break of at least 6 months from the system after completing an assignment
• Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested per contract
• One major holiday off may be permitted during the winter season
