American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab RN with prior travel and cardiac interventional experience for a 13-week acute care teaching hospital assignment requiring on-call coverage.

Details

• Cath Lab setting with 6 procedure rooms and a daily census of 15-20 adult patients
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and ASD/PFO closures
• Performs advanced procedures such as TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, and renal denervation
• Uses equipment including IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
• Epic charting system required
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours (7:30a-6p) plus call
• On-call requirement of 7 on-call and 5 late shifts every 6 weeks, including one full weekend (Fri-Sun) and one Saturday for elective cases
• Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called
• Holiday coverage required (1 holiday per 13-week contract, or 2 during winter holiday season)

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (in hand or pending, with emergency authorization available while permanent license processes)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; CCI RCIS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac cath lab experience required, 3+ years preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temp pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip procedures
• Scrub experience required
• Proficient in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
• Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a nationally recognized cardiac cath lab with American College of Cardiology PCI accreditation
• Work within a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated, certified stroke center
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team supporting adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates within 100 miles of the facility (per driver's license address) are not accepted
• Previous Carilion employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who have completed 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case by facility leadership
• All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial submission
