American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring at least 2 years of critical care experience and prior travel nursing experience at a Level II Trauma Center.

Details

• Work in a high-acuity Medical Intensive Care Unit at a Level II Trauma Center
• Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, shock states, CVA post TPa, COVID, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
• Standard patient ratio of 2:1, which may increase to 4:1 for grouped boarders awaiting inpatient transfer
• 1 CNA per shift to assist the team
• Frequently performed procedures include bedside central and arterial line placement, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, para/thoracentesis, and code blue response
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Weekend work required
• Floating required, including to telemetry units and potentially to sister facilities based on census needs
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• 2 hours of stroke-specific education required annually
• Minimum 2 years of MICU/critical care experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line management
• Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience managing acute stroke, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a high-acuity MICU population with complex, multisystem conditions
• Assist with and perform advanced procedures such as central/arterial line placement and chest tube insertion
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Any scrub color is accepted except reddish orange
• Facility-paid parking provided
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius unless accepting a lower bill rate
• Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers only after a 3-month waiting period
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the offer process; limited flexibility once contracted
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
