American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in an ambulatory surgery center, requiring 2+ years of PACU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

• Ambulatory/outpatient surgery center PACU unit
• Average daily census of 40 with 9 rooms/beds
• Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Primary diagnoses include Eye/ENT patients
• Special procedures include BMTs, tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, sinus surgeries, and cataract procedures
• Day shift schedule (5x8 hours), rotating between 6:00-14:30 and 7:30-16:00
• No paper or computerized charting system used on unit
• No call requirement
• No weekend requirement
• Rare floating required to other Charlotte area ASCs including COSC, Ballantyne, Huntersville, and Center City locations

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Required skills: starting and maintaining IVs
• Required skills: discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and obtaining operative/procedural consent
• Required knowledge of malignant hyperthermia protocol and pain assessment & management
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
• Preferred experience in Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
• Preferred experience with ENT, general, and ophthalmology surgery cases
• Preferred skills include airway assessment, oral/nasal airway placement, and administration of emergency medications, narcotics, and reversal agents

• Provide pre and post-operative care including patient assessment, medication management, and discharge planning
• 3-day unit orientation provided
• Scrubs provided
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment; no additional RTO permitted after signing
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
