American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of ICU experience and floating across multiple critical care units.

Details

• Critical Care Float position covering Surgical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Medical ICU/Bone Marrow Transplant Oncology ICU, and a mutually agreed Med-Surg unit
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
• Weekend work required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
• Uses Epic EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, including cardiac, neuro, and general ICU skills
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Neurological care skills including CVA/stroke management and post-neurosurgery care; EVD and ICP monitoring experience preferred
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure preferred
• Skilled in IV insulin protocols, IV therapy, and PICC line management
• Post cardiac surgery care experience (not directly from OR)
• Pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience; TAVR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds
• Any scrub color accepted; scrubs provided for OR personnel
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former UW staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
