American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Surgical Stepdown unit, requiring 1+ year of stepdown experience in an acute care hospital and BLS/IV certification.

Details

• Work on a 29-bed Surgical Stepdown unit
• Care for post-op patients including high acuity surgeries, lower acuity surgical patients requiring cardiac drips or BiPAP, trauma, and high acuity medical cases
• Patient ratio of 1:5/6
• Uses Epic EMR
• Day shift schedule, 0700-1930
• Every other weekend required
• May float as needed to similar or lower acuity units
• No call requirements

Requirements

• Current LPN license required if applicable, meeting Missouri licensure eligibility or current Missouri license
• BLS certification from AHA required
• IV certification required
• Minimum 1 year of stepdown experience in an acute care hospital required
• Proof of flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required November 1-April 1; declinations not accepted
• Must be able to stand and walk most of the shift, with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, and kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
• High risk exposure to blood and body fluids

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
• Maintain professional accountability and evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information
• Function within scope of nursing practice per Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards
• Positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and team-oriented personality preferred
• Black scrubs required; attire must meet facility dress code standards
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed, must be made up during the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
• Local candidates accepted within 50 miles, though bill rate will be reduced
• Facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
