American Traveler is hiring a Surgical Stepdown RN for a day shift travel assignment requiring stepdown or ICU experience and BLS/ACLS certification.

Details

• Surgical Stepdown unit with 29 beds
• Day shift, 07:00-19:30
• Patient ratios of 1:3/4
• EPIC EMR used
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend as needed by facility
• No call requirements
• Float to other departments of equal or lower acuity as needed
• Patient population includes post-op surgical patients (high and lower acuity), trauma, and high acuity medical patients requiring cardiac drips and BiPAP

Requirements

• Active RN license eligible for licensure in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri (MO or compact license)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA only
• Minimum 2 years of stepdown experience required
• Stepdown or ICU experience with post-op care, BiPAP, and cardiac gtt management
• Strong time management and critical thinking skills
• No expiring certifications within the first 30 days of assignment unless renewal documentation is provided
• Valid U.S. Social Security Number required

Additional Information

• Utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and maintain professional accountability for care provided
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care delivered by other caregivers
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
• Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
• Black scrubs required, meeting Mercy dress code standards
• RTO of 5 days or less allowed, must be made up during the assignment
• Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
• Local candidates accepted, though bill rate is reduced for those within 50 miles of the facility
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the radius
• No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months
• Positive attitude, problem-solving ability, and teamwork are valued traits for this role
