Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - Psychiatric for a night shift position on a locked adult behavioral health unit, requiring at least one year of acute behavioral health experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Locked, 16-bed adult psychiatric intensive care unit designated as a Receiving Facility for both involuntary and voluntary admissions
• Adult population ages 18-64, with occasional exceptions for geriatric patients
• Typical length of stay is 6-14 days due to state involuntary commitment laws
• Patient diagnoses include chronic persistent mental illness, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders
• Staffing typically includes 2-3 RNs and 2 LNA/MHTs per shift
• Target patient ratio of 1:6
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 3x per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
• No on-call requirements
• Float requirement to PEP and GPU units
• Utilizes Epic for documentation, Omnicell for medication management, and SBAR for communication

Requirements

• Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• CPI or MAB certification required (not both)
• Minimum 1 year of acute behavioral health nursing experience required
• Epic experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
