American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatric ER RN with a NM or compact license for a night shift assignment requiring ENPC certification and prior pediatric ED experience.

Details

• Level I Trauma, Teaching Children's Hospital, short-term acute care setting
• Pediatric Emergency Department unit, occasionally boarding admission holds during high census periods
• Patient ratios of 1:4 for days, nights, and weekends, which can increase during busy periods
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Weekend scheduling as needed (weekend days are Saturday/Sunday, weekend nights are Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope to Pediatric admission floors as needed based on staffing
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Scrub color: black

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or compact) required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, ENPC (must have ENPC prior to signing)
• Preferred certifications: NRP, TNCC
• RQI certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Pediatric experience required within an Adult/Pedi combined ED or a stand-alone Pediatric ED
• Required skills: triage, pediatric dosage calculations, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, interpretation of 12-lead EKG, interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Preferred skills: trauma/resuscitation experience, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, gastric tube placement, NG tube insertion, procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Preferred experience: charge nurse, teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, Level I and Level II trauma centers
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form)

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care to pediatric patients including triage, medication administration, and cardiac monitoring
• Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
• First-time travelers accepted with strong pediatric ED experience
• Prior travel experience not required, though candidates with 2+ years of ER experience at a Level 1 trauma facility may be considered
• Not open to local candidates within 100 miles of the facility
• Non-local driver's license required on file
• RTO greater than 7 days requires approval; no RTO during first or last 7 days of contract
• A 6-month system break is required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
• Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
• Pending license accepted for consideration
