American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ER RN for a Level I Trauma Children's Hospital, requiring 2 years of pediatric ED experience and ENPC certification prior to start.

• Pediatric Emergency Department within a Level I Trauma Teaching Children's Hospital
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Patient ratios of 1:4 for days, nights, and weekends, which can increase during high patient volume
• During high census periods, admission holds may board in the Peds ED longer than normal
• Weekend rotation required as scheduled, with weekend days defined as Saturday and Sunday and weekend nights as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• May float within scope to Pediatric admission floors based on staffing needs
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Not guaranteed a block schedule

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, ENPC (ENPC must be completed prior to start)
• NRP and TNCC certifications preferred
• RQI certifications not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Pediatric experience required within an Adult/Pedi combined ED or standalone Pediatric ED
• Trauma/resuscitation experience preferred
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations, phlebotomy, IV starts, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation required
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, NG tube insertion, and procedural sedation monitoring
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Level I/II Trauma Center experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions accepted upon completion of exemption form

Additional Information

• Deliver emergency nursing care to pediatric patients including triage, IV therapy, and cardiac monitoring
• Level I Trauma, teaching children's hospital, short-term acute care setting with 554 staffed beds
• Black scrub color required
• Must work 2 of the 3 designated holiday bundles: Thanksgiving/day after, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve/Day
• No local candidates accepted within 100 miles of the facility; non-local driver's license required on file
• First-time travelers accepted with strong pediatric ED experience
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval, with no RTO during the first 7 days or last day of the contract
• Pending license accepted at time of submission for consideration
• 6-month system break required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
• 12-month separation required for former staff before returning
