American Traveler is hiring an experienced GI/Endoscopy RN for a Level I trauma academic teaching hospital requiring moderate sedation and Epic experience.

Details

• Work in the Endoscopy unit of an academic Level I trauma teaching hospital
• Day/evening rotating shifts, 8 hours, with rotating start times between 6:30am-10:30am
• Weeknight call requirement, may need to stay past shift end to complete the day's schedule
• Perform moderate sedation and provide pre/post care including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Uses RN-driven sedation assessment approach based on Ramsay Sedation Scale
• Recover patients from sedated GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy
• Some patients require general anesthesia rather than moderate sedation
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating required as needed

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
• CGRN certification preferred
• 2 years of recent acute care experience required within the specialty within the last 3 years
• Level I or similar trauma center hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic experience required, within past 12 months preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria (adult and pediatric) prior to starting
• Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation and managing dysrhythmias
• Experience with airway management and recovering monitored anesthesia care sedation
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience administering opioid analgesics, Propofol, Versed, and reversal agents

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include circulating and scrubbing for procedures such as bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, esophageal varices/banding, and sclerotherapy
• Works with specialized equipment including bronchoscopy carts, ERBE units, electrosurgical units, dilators, polyp snares, and lithotripters
• Handles specimen collection and labeling
• Setting includes inpatient, outpatient endoscopy center, and portable/bedside travel cases
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted

• Travel experience required, though candidates with high acuity or Level I experience may be considered
