American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Stepdown RN with vent, trach, and G-tube experience for a unique inpatient unit caring for technology-dependent children of all ages.

Details

• Inpatient pediatric stepdown unit with 39 beds encompassing all specialties
• Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
• Acute care unit focused on chronic illness, including tracheostomy and chronic ventilator patients
• No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Day shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Scheduled every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling accommodations

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Prior 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Experience with ventilator, tracheostomy, and G-tube patient care required
• Meditech charting system experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide acute care nursing to a technology-dependent pediatric population with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator needs
• Manage gastric tube care as part of daily responsibilities
• Scrubs of any color accepted as long as neat and clean; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
• Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date, with no additions after the contract begins
• Previous staff members of the facility or its affiliated clinics will not be considered for this assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Pending license candidates accepted
