Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN with 2+ years of experience and an active IL RN license for a night shift assignment in a unique inpatient unit caring for technology-dependent children.

Details

• Pediatric Stepdown unit in a children's hospital with 39 beds housing all specialties
• Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
• Acute care unit caring for patients with chronic illness, including tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
• No drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours accepted (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Ventilator, tracheostomy, and G-tube care experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide care for medically complex pediatric patients with chronic ventilator and tracheostomy needs
• Perform tracheostomy care and management of gastric tubes
• Scrub color is flexible; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
• Free parking available in shared lots on the hospital's public park grounds
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
• Pending license candidates accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date; no RTO may be added after the contract begins
• Previous staff members of the facility or affiliated clinics are not eligible for this assignment
