American Traveler is seeking an experienced CVICU Registered Nurse for a night shift assignment at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a WI or compact RN license and hands-on experience with the NextStage CVVH machine.

Details

• Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 1900-0730 with every other weekend rotation
• Some holiday coverage required, no on-call responsibilities
• Floating required as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in CVICU specialty required
• Prior CVICU experience required
• Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine required
• Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable unit experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment

Additional Information

• Provide critical care to complex cardiovascular patients including post-cardiac surgery, CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR, and cardiac catheterization/intervention patients
• Manage advanced cardiac support devices such as IABP, Impella, and LVAD/RVAD
• Perform arterial line, central line, and PICC line management along with blood product administration
• Care for ventilated patients including BiPAP/CPAP management, ETT/NT suctioning, and interpretation of ABGs
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips and manage continuous IV sedation and paralytics
• Perform CVVHD/CRRT and manage patients with acute or chronic renal failure
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and obtain 12-lead EKGs
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols including isolation precautions and proper PPE use
