American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Tele/Neuro unit position requiring a TN or compact RN license and prior neurological care experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 32-bed Telemetry/Neuro unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on day shift and 1:6 on night shift
• LPNs and PCTs support the unit, with PCTs covering 12-15 patients each for vitals, ADLs, and glucose monitoring
• Cares for patients with cardiac, neurological/stroke, and seizure diagnoses
• RNs titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin, and Cardizem
• Virtual telemetry monitoring using GE monitors, with nurses responsible for reading their own cardiac strips each shift
• Respiratory equipment includes High Flow and BiPAP devices used for less than 24 hours, with RN troubleshooting only
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, with every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Holiday coverage assigned on a rotation basis
• Floating required, with travelers used for on-call as a last resort

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Neurological care experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
• Navy blue scrubs required for dress code
• Charge nurse present on every shift, typically taking a patient assignment
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with this health system within the past year, though PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
