American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of tele nursing experience and a compact or ID RN license.

Details

• Acute care Telemetry unit with 27 beds, expanding to 37 beds in June
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule (7p-7a) with weekend and holiday coverage as needed
• No on-call or standby requirements
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• Common diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, CAD, renal failure, respiratory failure, and pneumothorax
• Cares for post cath lab patients (does not pull sheaths)
• Commonly administers set-rate diltiazem and amiodarone drips (no epi or nitro)
• Cardiac monitoring using SpaceLab, transitioning to Philips monitors
• RT manages CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment
• Tele techs support the floor until June, then monitoring centralizes off-site
• Nurse aide support at a 1:8/9 ratio
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available (non-patient assignment)
• Floating required to like units, Med/Surg, and possibly ICU (if experienced), including to other facility campuses
• No block scheduling or special scheduling requests accommodated

Requirements

• Active RN license (compact or ID) required at time of consideration
• BSN required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Telemetry nurse
• Cardiac drip experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale assessment experience required
• Post cath recovery experience required, TR band and Fem stop experience preferred
• Chest tube experience required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Read and document telemetry strips every 6 hours
• Provide direct nursing care for cardiac and telemetry patients including drip titration monitoring
• Scrubs must be clean, well-kept, and professional in any color
• Orientation includes system onboarding followed by 2 department-specific orientation shifts
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least one year before applying for this travel assignment
