American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night-shift position on a Neuro Med/Surg unit requiring 1 year of recent experience and NM or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 32-bed Med/Surg Neuro unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units as needed with brief orientation provided
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks
• Rapid response team activation as part of unit responsibilities
• Utilizes Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, may be pending approval prior to start
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if they have at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, HFNC, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing CVA patients preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management
• Surgical drain management experience

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive Med/Surg nursing care to a Neuro patient population
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
• Previous staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Onsite orientation includes required modules averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply with sufficient experience
