American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Float Pool RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and floating across multiple specialty units.

Details

• MS/Tele Float position in a short term acute care hospital
• Nurses float between medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, and cardiology units
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for days/weekends and 1:6 for nights
• Required to work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Float pool staff call a recorded line up to 1 hour before shift start to receive unit assignment
• No block scheduling accommodations

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• IV start and telemetry certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required (hardstop requirement)
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Cardiac monitoring skills required including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and telemetry remote monitoring
• Respiratory skills required including nasal cannula and oxygen administration; HFNC and ABG interpretation preferred
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE experience required
• Surgical drain management experience required
• PCA medication management preferred
• CVA and feeding tube care experience preferred
• Total joint replacement experience preferred
• Must be trained on lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available onsite
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Pending license candidates accepted
• No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius as no local candidates are accepted
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or be shaved as required
• Contract length is firm with no accommodations for early cancellation to accept other assignments within the same health system
