American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Stepdown position requiring at least one year of stepdown/PCU experience and a willingness to precept new RNs.

Details

• Work in the Medicine Step Down unit of a hospital setting
• Care for patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex
• Night shift schedule
• 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours per week

Requirements

• Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact eNLC)
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
• Med/Surg and Stepdown/PCU experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• BSN preferred
• Full DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Obtain and monitor physiological data, observing and intervening as needed
• Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
• Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
• Inform patients and families of hospital procedures
• Refer patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegate tasks to support staff
• Must be willing to precept new RNs
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Returning workers may extend a contract one time for a maximum of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
• Compliance deadlines are strictly enforced, and start dates will not be pushed for candidates who are not cleared on time
• Onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screens, must begin immediately upon offer
