American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/IMC Float Pool position requiring 2 years of PCU/IMC experience and a Colorado or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting within a multi-facility float pool covering PCU/IMC units
• Float pool covers multiple specialties including general, cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, and ED observation
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, urology post-surgical, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4 depending on acuity
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts (7a-7p)
• 6-9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
• Must float throughout Zone 1 (Colorado Springs area), including Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
• May also float into ICU (low acuity holds) and MS-Tele units based on skillset
• Schedules released 4-6 weeks in advance; assignment format may include single-facility scheduling or Just-In-Time facility assignment with 1-2 hours notice
• Rare call/standby requirement, primarily for low census situations
• May be required to work holiday rotation
• Charge nurse is designated per unit and typically does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
• Nurse aides and respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) are available on units
• 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor provided

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/IMC experience required
• Must be comfortable titrating and managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin
• Experience with common titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, cardizem, amiodarone, ativan, insulin, and heparin required
• Prior neuro experience preferred
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care while floating across multiple facilities within Zone 1 based on staffing needs and acuity level
• First float assignment will be communicated on or before the Monday start date
• Responsible for securing housing that accommodates floating requirements throughout the entire zone
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the Colorado Springs city center to qualify for travel rate eligibility
• Any scrub color permitted
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• Candidates must be in-state for orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• No more than 3 missed shifts allowed during the 13-week contract, with makeup opportunities available before or after RTO
• Two-week notice required prior to contract end to avoid penalty
• No unit manager involvement in the hiring process; interview conducted with clinical team
• Candidates with recent direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility within the health system in the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
