American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Orthopedics unit, requiring at least 1 year of ortho experience and a State or Compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Orthopedic unit of a hospital setting
• Provides specialized care to patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions
• Unit has 10 rooms/beds with a patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours from 18:45 to 7:15
• First-time travelers accepted

Requirements

• Active State or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of orthopedic nursing experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activation
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Experience with non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• Ortho trauma and total joint replacement experience preferred
• Experience with peripheral nerve block catheters preferred
• Experience managing surgical drains

Additional Information

• Deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols
• Respond to life-threatening situations with appropriate nursing interventions
• Organize care delivery by prioritizing, delegating, delivering, evaluating, and communicating with providers and leaders
• Educate patients and families on orthopedic care and prevention
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• All RTO must be listed at time of submission for consideration
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
