American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Step Down/PCU night shift position requiring Epic experience and a VA or compact RN license.

• Step Down/PCU unit in a teaching hospital setting
• 1:3 patient ratio
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• Labor Day weekend off cannot be approved
• Must adhere to facility float policy, floating within scope of practice as needed
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Experience with wound care, insulin drip titration, and isolation precautions
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide step-down/telemetry level care to patients with cardiac, renal, respiratory, and neurological conditions
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies
• Participate in specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have at least 1-year separation and leadership approval to be considered
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
