Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Geropsychiatric Unit day shift position requiring an active NH or compact RN license and at least 3 years of nursing experience.

Details

• Work on the Geropsychiatric Unit within a hospital setting
• Geriatric psychiatric patient population
• Day shift schedule 7a-7p
• 13-week assignment length
• Defined workweek runs Sunday 12:01am through the following Saturday 11:59pm

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license currently in hand
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required
• Associate's degree or diploma from a 3-year nursing program required, Bachelor's degree preferred
• Medical terminology knowledge required
• Strong mathematical, analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including assessing, monitoring, and reporting changes in patient conditions
• Administer medications and treatments while assisting patients with daily activities
• Facilitate therapeutic milieu activities including daily groups, education sessions, and 1:1 patient interactions
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary treatment team members to develop individualized treatment plans
• Complete timely documentation including admission paperwork, assessments, progress notes, and discharge planning
• Conduct therapies tailored to each patient's diagnosis and needs
• Obtain accurate patient histories at admission and provide efficient discharge plans
