American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of experience and welcoming first-time travelers.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a short-term acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center designation
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Floating between units required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses telemetry and cardiac monitoring equipment
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Basls Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at submission
• Epic EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams required
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management skills required
• Respiratory care skills including oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management required
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions such as CVA, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, and seizure disorders preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg Telemetry patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Manage dysrhythmias and utilize Rapid Response/Code teams as needed
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Administer oxygen and manage non-invasive airway support
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Care for neurological patients including those with CVA, craniotomy, intracranial bleeds, and seizure disorders
• Dress code requires solid navy blue uniforms or scrub attire for licensed nursing personnel
• Free parking available in designated employee/visitor lots
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Local candidates accepted at standard bill rate
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate, unless accepted as a local candidate
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• May be required to float between sister facilities within the healthcare system
• Minimal RTO requests accepted; all time-off requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to approval before start of assignment
